Cuba is the largest and most populated island of the Caribbeans just a few hundreds of kilometers south of the United-States. If nature is more your thing, head over to Pinar del Rio where you’ll get to see the beautiful Cuyaguateje River. Traditional houses dot the countryside and the valley of Isabel Maria has enjoyable paths where one can admire the sights. Santiago de Cuba, on the other hand, is a great place for trekking up the La Gran Piedra mountain range. The spectacle at its top is worth every step along the way.
Water lovers should consider taking a guided tour in Trinidad to get to its famous waterfalls or reach Maria la Gorda, one of the lesser developed area of the country, for snorkeling and scuba diving along its great coast. Also of interest is Cayo Levisa where one can check out the several underwater shipwrecks that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
