Popular tourist destinations in Poland
Poland is a country that can be visited many times and each time the visitor will gain new impressions, food for thought as well as aesthetic pleasure and enjoyment.
Definitely, when visiting Poland, tourists tend to visit the capital city of Warsaw, as well as Krakow, Wroclaw, Łódź, Szczecin. However, there are many smaller towns and cities that are no less splendid than the well-known tourist meccas of the country.
Kazimierz Dolny
This small Polish town is listed by CNN as one of the “most romantic places in Central Europe”. Situated on the banks of the Vistula, it will please both connoisseurs of beautiful architecture and those who want to spend some time in beautiful surroundings. It is also close to one of Poland’s best-known natural attractions – the Korzyniewy Dłówny Gorge.
Krakow
To visit Poland without visiting Krakow is nonsense. After all, it appears in many European and even world rankings of the cities with the most beautiful architecture.
The most popular attractions in Krakow include the Wawel Castle, St. Mary’s Church, Sukiennica Square and the Jagiellonian University. Moreover, just strolling around this beautiful city will leave a lasting impression.
Gdańsk
This city with its millennia of history and the majestic architecture of its old part is a true gift for a tourist who wants to experience true Polish flair. Just visiting the historical and architectural sites in the city will take more than a day. In terms of architecture, however, tourists are bound to be moved by the many modern buildings in Gdańsk, such as the European Solidarity Centre. It is an impressive ship hull-shaped building, worthy of explorers’ attention.
Bydgoszcz
Guidebooks often refer to it as the “Polish Amsterdam”, due to the multitude of canals that crisscross the city. However, it is not the only remarkable feature of Bydgoszcz. You can enjoy Bydgoszcz’s beautiful Art Nouveau buildings, dating from the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th. It is also famous for its parks and one of Poland’s best botanical gardens.
Poznan
Ironically, until recently this beautiful Polish city was largely neglected by tourists and for some reason not included in many itineraries. However, as of 2019, the city is experiencing, one might say, a real tourist renaissance. And rightly so. Poznan is full of monuments from different eras, like town halls, palaces, castles, cathedrals, gardens and parks.
Sandomierz
This Polish city is not too well known and popular, but it is worth to be included into the tourist routes and not to be neglected by the travelers. After all, Sandomierz is one of the few European cities where not just many old buildings are preserved, but also the medieval layout. The city is also situated in a beautiful hilly area.
